Traditional senne fishing in Togo, between fish and plastic waste
The entire village gathers on the beach, where the strongest men haul in the net, which can measure up to one kilometre in length, following the rhythm of the waves and the fishing master’s commands. Songs accompany this Herculean task, and as the fishermen fold and carry their net, they appear chained to one another, like their ancestors who were deported into slavery from this very beach.
