Brovès, village fantôme
En 1974, le village de Brovès, dans le Var, n'existe plus aux yeux de l'administration. Ses habitants ont été expropriés, et relogés plus loin. Le coupable ? Le camp militaire de Canjuers, dont la construction décidée plus de dix ans plus tôt, n'a laissé aucune alternative aux habitants de ce bourg, en majorité des paysans à la tête de petits troupeaux.
Depuis, le souvenir de ce village et la brutalité de la manoeuvre n'ont pas été digérés. Chaque année, d'anciens habitants regroupés en association, se réunissent face à leur village d'enfance, pour une journée de pélerinage. Ensemble, ils reparlent de leur village, et l'armée autorise même la violation de son périmètre. L'association veille à ce que le souvenir ne s'efface pas, et oeuvre même à le récupèrer auprès de l'armée.
A ghost town named Brovès.
In 1974, the village of Brovès, in the Var, no longer existed in the eyes of the administration. Its inhabitants were expropriated and relocated further away. The culprit? The military camp of Canjuers, whose construction was decided more than ten years earlier, left no alternative to the inhabitants of this village, mostly farmers with small herds.
Since then, the memory of this village and the brutality of the manoeuvre have not been digested. Every year, former inhabitants, grouped together in an association, meet in front of their childhood village for a day of pilgrimage. Together, they talk about their village again, and the army even allows the violation of its perimeter. The association makes sure that the memory does not fade, and even works to recover it from the army.
