Cuba, 100 ans avec Fidel
Cuba s’apprête à fêter cette année le centenaire de la naissance de Fidel Castro. Le portrait du commandant décédé il y a 10 ans est omniprésent à La Havane, comme les références à la Révolution cubaine.
100 ans avec Fidel est un photo documentaire réalisé en mars 2026. Venu à la capitale cubaine, j’ai voulu témoigner sur l état de la société à la veille de cet anniversaire, alors que les Etats-Unis déclarent publiquement de vouloir un changement de régime et être prêts à intervenir militairement.
Selon les personnes que j’ai rencontrées, la crise économique actuelle existe depuis bien avant la mort de Fidel Castro, mais elle s’est empirée depuis l’intervention des Etats-Unis au Venezuela en janvier dernier. Cuba perdait alors son principal fournisseur de pétrole et s'enfonçait dans la pire de crises de son histoire.

Cuba is preparing to celebrate the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth. The portrait of the commander, who passed away ten years ago, is omnipresent in Havana, as are references to the Cuban Revolution and its values.
“100 Years with Fidel” is a photo documentary produced in March 2026. Having come to the Cuban capital to take the pulse of Cuban society on the eve of this anniversary at a time when the United States declare publicly to want a regime change and to be ready to intervene militarily.
How are people coping with this crisis? According to them, it has existed long before the death of Fidel Castro, but it has worsened since the U.S. intervention in Venezuela last January. Cuba then lost its main oil supplier and is confronting the worse crisis in its history.
