COULEUR - MULJIL PAR LA COMPAGNIE SUD CORÉENNE ELEPHANT LAUGHS AU FESTIVAL D'AURILLAC
Un théâtre militant et ancré dans le réel, avec des performances interactives, le public actif. L’objectif de la compagnie de Corée du Sud Elephant Laughs est d’aiguiser le regard du public en l’encourageant à réfléchir sur la société actuelle. Avec Muljil, la compagnie s’inspire des haenyeo, ces femmes âgées qui plongent chaque jour en apnée, flirtant avec la mort, pour ramasser des coquillages sur l’île de Jeju. Elephants Laugh raconte la peur, le danger, l’accueil, le partage, grâce à ces vitrines posées remplies d’eau où les comédiens immergés prennent vie peu à peu. Muljil aborde la notion de communauté, sans filtre mais avec une poésie sans limite.

A militant theater rooted in reality, with interactive performances and an active audience. The aim of South Korean company Elephant Laughs is to sharpen the audience's gaze, encouraging them to reflect on today's society. With Muljil, the company takes its inspiration from the haenyeo, elderly women who dive daily, flirting with death, to collect shellfish on Jeju Island. Elephants Laugh recounts fear, danger, hospitality and sharing, thanks to water-filled display cases in which immersed actors gradually come to life. Muljil tackles the notion of community, unfiltered but with boundless poetry.
