Laurence et Gilles, L’autonomie alimentaire dès la première année d’installation
Laurence and Gilles, Food autonomy from the first year of installation
Laurence and Gilles are settled in the heart of the Lot in a house in the middle of a 5-hectare plot of land. The couple welcomed me at the end of July 2020 in the middle of a heatwave. Despite the crushing heat of these summer days, I am very excited by this meeting. I can't wait to find out how they are making their desire for total food autonomy a reality. On this subject, it is the most radical approach that I have encountered so I am eager to discover how it works. Once I arrive at Laurence and Gilles's, I immediately feel all the passion and motivation that they invest in this choice of life, as well as the modesty of the couple with regard to all the work and know-how that they develop. Their living space is made up of forests (mainly chestnut trees), plots dedicated to animals and others to vegetable gardens. By purchasing this property 12 years ago, they made the choice to no longer have jobs. Their goal was clear from the start: to become self-sufficient from a food point of view from the first year of installation. Thanks to the enormous amount of work they have been doing in the field since their arrival, Gilles and Laurence are self-sufficient from their various productions.
