Harar, ville de Rimbaud
Ancienne ville caravanière Harar a longtemps dominé le commerce dans cette région de l'est Africain, semblable a une Tombouctou Ethiopienne. Des fortunes y sont nées attirant à la fin du dix-neuvième siècles, hommes d'affaires et aventurier Occidentaux.
Arthur Rimbaud fuyant sa jeune notoriété Française est venu y trouver l'aventure, il y a vécu 10 ans avant de rentrer mourir dans l'Hexagone.
Depuis Harar s'est endormie avec la fin des caravanes mais de riches demeures de marchands témoignent encore de cette époque.
La vieille ville entourée de ses murailles n'a sans doute que très peu changé depuis Rimbaud et les pavés usés sont sans doute les mêmes que ceux qu'il a foulés.
Aujourd'hui comme hier s'y côtoient Hararis, Somalis, Oromos, Afars, Amharas...
Harar, town of Rimbaud
Ancient caravan town Harar has long dominated trade in this region of East Africa, similar to an Ethiopian Timbuktu. Fortunes were born here attracting Western businessmen and adventurers at the end of the nineteenth century.
Arthur Rimbaud fleeing his young French fame came to find adventure there, he lived there for 10 years before returning to France to die. Since Harar fell asleep with the end of the caravans but rich merchant houses still bear witness to this era.
The old town surrounded by its walls has probably changed very little since Rimbaud and the worn paving stones are probably the same as those he walked on.
Today, as in the past, Hararis, Somalis, Oromos, Afars, Amharas... can be found there.
