Isabelle Souriment – Freelance Photographer and Photojournalist

Isabelle Souriment is a freelance photographer and photojournalist based in the Gers, in southwestern France. Originally from Brest, Brittany, she has spent more than twenty-five years working across photojournalism, documentary photography, portraiture and fine art photography.

Educated in the United Kingdom, notably at Bournemouth and Goldsmiths College in London, she began her professional career in Britain. She worked as a freelance photographer for Christie’s, contributed photographic reports to the press, and assisted Jean Gaumy, a member of Magnum Photos, on an assignment in England and Germany.

Based in the Gers since 2004, she documents places, the people who inhabit them, and the social and environmental changes shaping their lives. Her approach combines sensitivity, independence and a strong documentary perspective, with a particular interest in rural communities, agriculture, biodiversity, traditional skills, cultural heritage and contemporary social issues.

Through her photographic work, she seeks to observe, document and tell stories without imposing a particular point of view, focusing on individual experiences and the wider issues affecting society.

Alongside her photojournalistic work, she undertakes editorial and commercial assignments for the press, public institutions, businesses and private clients, including reportage, portraiture, corporate photography, architecture, heritage and events.

She works primarily across the Gers, Occitanie, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Brittany, and is available for assignments throughout France and internationally.

Her photographs are published in the press, editorial publications and institutional communications.
