REHAB-COVID
REHAB-COVID
Several weeks after being infected with Covid-19, some patients still experience distressing symptoms related to the infection. These can result from a long period of intensive care, causing locomotion problems. These "resuscitation suites" require hospitalization in a Functional Rehabilitation Unit.
However, many patients with a non-severe form of covid-19, treated at home or in very short hospital stays, complain of a resurgence of symptoms 1 to 2 months after their infection. They mainly describe: headache, shortness of breath on exertion, fatigue or chest tightness. This is known as post-COVID syndrome.
Faced with this situation, the Foch Hospital officially launches "Rehab-covid" in order to offer a tailor-made service to these patients.
First of all, to eliminate a remote complication of SARS COV 2 pneumopathy (embolism, pulmonary fibrosis, infarction...) and to carry out a functional assessment leading to treatment. A first complete check-up is proposed to the patients: medical and respiratory effort test. A physiotherapist, a dietician and a psychologist also participate.
A complete programme is then given to them, depending on the seriousness of the after-effects observed (self-rehabilitation at home, sessions with a private physiotherapist on prescription, treatment in the rehabilitation service of the Foch Hospital).
