Nearly 3,000 people, according to police, demonstrated on Saturday afternoon at Place de l'Albertine in Brussels to commemorate the Nakba - the "catastrophe" in Arabic, marking the start of the exodus of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the creation of Israel in May 1948. The demonstrators also denounced the escalation of violence between Israel and the Palestinians in Palestine and Gaza which has so far left 139 dead, including 39 children, and 1,000 injured in Gaza and 10 dead in Israel, including a child and a soldier, and 560 wounded.
