La guerre déclenchée le 28 février 2026, par l’offensive israélo-américaine contre l’Iran, s’est rapidement propagée au Moyen-Orient. Au Liban, État fragilisé par des années de crises économiques et politiques, l’escalade entre l’armée israélienne et le Hezbollah, allié de Téhéran, a entraîné - pour certains - un tournant dans la guerre débutée en septembre 2024 - pour d’autres une nouvelle guerre entre Israël et le Hezbollah.
Établie en novembre 2024, la trêve entre Israël et le Liban n’a jamais été respectée par l’État hébreux. Depuis plusieurs mois, le Liban vivait sous la menace - situation en partie la racine de l’escalade du conflit en mars 2026. Le lundi 2 mars, des tirs sont lancés par le Hezbollah en direction d’Israël, attaque condamnée par le gouvernement libanais et de nombreux libanais. L’armée israélienne a rapidement riposté avec des frappes massives dans le sud du Liban, ainsi que dans la banlieue de Beyrouth, plus au nord du pays, et dans la plaine de la Bekaa. On décompte plus d'un million de déplacés. Entre le 2 et le 30 mars, 1 238 personnes ont été tuées au Liban, dont 124 enfants.

The war, which began on February 28, 2026, with the Israeli-American offensive against Iran, quickly spread throughout the Middle East. In Lebanon, a state weakened by years of economic and political crises, the escalation between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, an ally of Tehran, marked—for some—a turning point in the war that began in September 2024; for others, it signaled a new war between Israel and Hezbollah.
Established in November 2024, the truce between Israel and Lebanon was never respected by the Jewish state. For several months, Lebanon had been living under threat—a situation that was partly the root cause of the conflict’s escalation in March 2026. On Monday, March 2, Hezbollah fired rockets toward Israel, an attack condemned by the Lebanese government and many Lebanese citizens. The Israeli military quickly retaliated with massive strikes in southern Lebanon, as well as in the suburbs of Beirut, further north in the country, and in the Bekaa Valley. More than one million people were displaced. Between March 2 and 30, 1,238 people were killed in Lebanon, including 124 children.
