L’Hôtel de ville de Dax
Au 18ème, ce fut un hôtel particulier appartenant à l’homme de loi Pierre Planter. Cet hôtel particulier est plus connu sous le nom d'hôtel de Chièvres : du nom de Thérèse Emmanuelle de Chièvres qui hérite du bâtiment. En 1934, le tribunal de Dax prononce l’expropriation pour cause d’utilité publique des terrains et bâtiments. La mairie s’y installe. Le bâtiment a évolué, s’est agrandi notamment sur la façade sud avec l’immense square Max Moras, maire de Dax dans les années 70. Le bâtiment de la mairie de Dax jouxte la Cathédrale Sainte-Marie de Dax, aussi connue sous le nom de Notre-Dame de Dax.
Dax Town Hall
In the 18th century, it was a mansion belonging to the lawyer Pierre Planter. This mansion is better known as the Hôtel de Chièvres, named after Thérèse Emmanuelle de Chièvres, who inherited the building. In 1934, the Dax court ruled that the land and buildings should be expropriated for public use. The town hall moved in. The building has evolved and expanded, particularly on the south facade with the huge Max Moras square, named after the mayor of Dax in the 1970s. The Dax town hall building is next to the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Dax, also known as Notre-Dame de Dax.
