Papeete - Arrivée de la pirogue hawaiienne Hokulea le 28 juin 2025
La pirogue à voile Hōkūleʻa, célèbre pour avoir permis de prouver les méthodes de navigation aux étoiles des anciens Polynésiens, est arrivée à Papeete, Tahiti, ce samedi 28 juin 2025. Accompagnée de la pirogue jumelle Hikianalia, équipée d'instrument de navigation moderne contrairement à Hōkūleʻa, et de la pirogue tahitienne Fa'afaite i te Ao Mā'ohi, Hōkūleʻa a été accueillie en grande pompe dans les jardins de Pā'ofa'i et sur le paepae à son nom. Hōkūleʻa fête ses 50 ans d'existence en 2025. À cette occasion, elle parcourt l'océan Pacifique dans le cadre de son projet Moananuiākea initialement prévu et débuté en 2023 et reporté suite aux incendies de Lahaina.
Papeete - Arrival of the famous Hawaiian outrigger canoe Hokulea
The sailing canoe Hōkūleʻa, famous for proving the star navigation methods of the ancient Polynesians, arrived in Papeete, Tahiti, on Saturday, 28 June 2025. Accompanied by its sister canoe, Hikianalia, which unlike Hōkūleʻa is equipped with modern navigation instruments, and the Tahitian canoe Fa'afaite i te Ao Mā'ohi, Hōkūleʻa was welcomed with great fanfare in the gardens of Pā'ofa'i and on the paepae named after it. Hōkūleʻa celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025. To mark the occasion, it will sail across the Pacific Ocean as part of its Moananuiākea project, originally planned for 2023 but postponed due to the Lahaina fires.
