Protest against the Italian government and ArcelorMittal (ex Ilva) steel plant
Protesters demonstrate for the closure of ArcelorMittal (ex llva) steel plant, which they say causes environmental and health issues among the local population. ArcelorMittal recently signed an agreement with the Italian government to form a public-private partnership. The deal expects the steel production to increase in the next years. Protesters made a wall bill reading "Again the same present. Merry Christmas to the children of Taranto by Italian politicians" and hold paper candies labeled with polluting agents, meaning that pollution is the only present Taranto's children will receive from the government at Christmas.
