FRANCE-SANTE-CANCER DU SEIN-UN REGARD ASYMETRIQUE
Début février 2024, a 45 ans, on me diagnostique un cancer du sein... Passé le moment de sidération, les différentes étapes de déni, d’angoisse, de paranoïa et de culpabilité, il y a enfin une sorte de lâcher prise à suivre le protocole de soin… Pour moi ce sera une mastectomie totale du sein droit avec hormonothérapie pendant 5ans. J’accepte assez facilement cette idée tant je suis soulagée d’échapper à la chimiothérapie. Après l’intervention et le temps de convalescence, ayant un peu plus de recul sur ce qu’il vient de m’arriver, viennent les questionnements… notamment sur le rapport à mon corps, la confiance que je lui porte, sur ma santé, ma force, ma féminité… Comme la plupart des femmes passées par là, on m’a immédiatement parlé d'une reconstruction mammaire qui serait complètement prise en charge. J’apprends plus tard que seulement 30% des femmes choisissent de bénéficier de cette chirurgie reconstructrice. Etant encore a quelques mois de ce rendez-vous avec mon corps je m’interroge aussi… Cette série tente de mettre en image ces reflexions. En parodiant l'esthétique publicitaire de la marque de lingerie Aubade, j'ai aussi voulu attirer le regard sur ce corps amputé que l'on ne montre jamais alors que le cancer du sein concerne 1 femme sur 8.

In early February 2024, at the age of 45, I was diagnosed with breast cancer... After the moment of shock, the various stages of denial, anxiety, paranoia and guilt, I finally let go and followed the treatment protocol... For me, it would be a total mastectomy of the right breast with hormone therapy for 5 years. I'm so relieved not to have to undergo chemotherapy that I accept the idea with relative ease. After the operation and the convalescence period, having gained a little more perspective on what had just happened to me, I began to ask myself questions... particularly about my relationship with my body, my confidence in it, my health, my strength, my femininity... Like most women who have been through this, I was immediately told about breast reconstruction, which would be fully covered. I would later learn that only 30% of women opt for this reconstructive surgery. As I'm still a few months away from this appointment with my body, I'm also wondering... This series is an attempt to put these reflections into images. By parodying the advertising aesthetic of the Aubade lingerie brand, I also wanted to draw attention to this amputated body that is never shown, even though breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women.
