A Phoenician heritage
The mysterious Phoenicians fascinate mankind. Daring navigators and excellent merchants, they are the originators of the European alphabet. Legend has it that the Phoenician princess Europa was abducted to Crete by Zeus, who was captivated by her beauty. Europa's family then set off in search of her, and Cadmos, her brother and king of Tyre, offered the Greeks the Phoenician alphabet in exchange for the goddess. This is how the legend tells of the ties and historical proximity between the West and the Middle East.
If Lebanon can agree on one legend, it's that of the Phoenix: this country, destroyed a thousand times over, has always rebuilt itself. By crossing past and present history, this documentary aims to question the identity of Lebanese youth. The latter was built on the ruins of the civil war and is now experiencing an economic crisis that is driving a mass exodus.
