Alors qu'une rétrospective spectaculaire est consacrée cet automne à Jacques-Louis David, ce spectacle musical mêlant lectures, chants et images, nous entraîne à la rencontre d'un artiste pris dans le flux de l'Histoire, acteur et metteur en scène de la Révolution.
Si l'on connaît de David son iconique portrait de Marat assassiné ou le Sacre de Napoléon, on sait moins qu'il fut également l'organisateur des cérémonies et fêtes révolutionnaires.
Réunis autour du metteur en scène et comédien Benjamin Lazar, un plateau d'acteurs et de musiciens d'exception (Judith Chemla, Stanislas Roquette, Arnaud Marzorati et Thibault Lacroix) nous livrent un portrait de David méconnu, celui d'un homme emprisonné à la fin de la Terreur et qui revit ses souvenirs à la veille de son procès.

While a spectacular retrospective is being dedicated to Jacques-Louis David this autumn, this musical performance, blending readings, songs, and images, takes us on a journey to meet an artist caught in the flow of history, an actor and director of the Revolution.
While David is known for his iconic portrait of the assassinated Marat or the Coronation of Napoleon, it is less well known that he was also the organizer of revolutionary ceremonies and festivals.
Gathered around director and actor Benjamin Lazar, a cast of exceptional actors and musicians (Judith Chemla, Stanislas Roquette, Arnaud Marzorati, and Thibault Lacroix) presents us with a lesser-known portrait of David: that of a man imprisoned at the end of the Reign of Terror, reliving his memories on the eve of his trial.
