LEVIATHAN mis en scène par Lorraine de Sagazan, texte de Guillaume Poix, avec Khallaf Baraho, Jeanne Favre, Felipe Fonseca, Jisca Kalvanda, Antonin Meyer-Esquerré, Mathieu Perotto, Victoria Quesnel, Eric Verdin, dans Gymnase du lycée Aubanel, Avignon, France, le 14 juillet 2024.
Créé après une longue immersion au cœur du système pénal, notamment des procédures de comparution immédiate, Léviathan interroge la justesse de la justice institutionnelle. En collaboration avec l’auteur Guillaume Poix, Lorraine de Sagazan s’inspire des pratiques de la justice dite transformatrice et autres alternatives au schéma traditionnel juger-punir-enfermer. Sous un chapiteau dressé comme un tribunal de fortune, en écho à l’installation présentée à la Collection Lambert, Léviathan cherche à comprendre – au-delà du bien et du mal – les liens entre le système juridique et les inégalités qui régissent notre société, renversant au passage certaines évidences. À travers la figure biblique du Léviathan, le spectacle nous confronte à la violence et à sa régulation par le droit, nous posant cette question cruciale : qui est le monstre ?

Created after a long immersion in the heart of the penal system, and particularly immediate appearance trials, Léviathan questions the fairness of institutional justice. Working with author Guillaume Poix, Lorraine de Sagazan draws inspiration from transformative justice and other alternatives to the traditional judge-punish-imprison model. Under a tent that serves as a makeshift courtroom, an echo to the installation presented at the Collection Lambert, Léviathan tries to understand—beyond good and evil—the ties between the legal system and the inequalities that govern our society, overturning certain obvious truths in the process. Through the biblical figure of the Leviathan, the show confronts us with violence and its regulation by law, asking this crucial question: who is the monster?
