À l’heure où de nombreuses stations de basse et moyenne altitude voient leur modèle fragilisé par le réchauffement climatique, Tignes semble disposer d’un avantage naturel lui permettant, en théorie, de prolonger l’économie traditionnelle du ski. Pourtant, la station de Haute Tarentaise ne se contente pas de préserver l’existant : elle a choisi de repenser en profondeur son modèle sous l'impulsion de son maire Serge Revial.
Première décision forte : rompre avec La Compagnie des Alpes pour reprendre la maîtrise de l’exploitation du domaine skiable, qui repassera sous gestion publique le 1er juin 2026. Dans le même mouvement, la commune active un second levier stratégique majeur : son Plan Local d’Urbanisme. À travers le projet Imaginons 2050, Tignes engage une réflexion ambitieuse sur son avenir. Une démarche collective qui assume une responsabilité claire envers le territoire, son environnement et ses habitants.
Tignes and its mayor Serge Revial: when a ski resort takes back control of its future
At a time when many low- and mid-altitude resorts are seeing their business models undermined by global warming, Tignes appears to have a natural advantage that, in theory, will enable it to prolong its traditional ski economy. However, the Haute Tarentaise resort is not content to simply preserve the status quo: under the leadership of its mayor, Serge Revial, it has chosen to radically rethink its business model.
The first major decision was to break away from La Compagnie des Alpes and regain control of the ski area, which will return to public management on June 1, 2026. At the same time, the municipality is activating a second major strategic lever: its Local Urban Development Plan. Through the Imaginons 2050 project, Tignes is embarking on an ambitious reflection on its future. This collective approach takes on a clear responsibility towards the region, its environment, and its inhabitants.
