Sea Shepherd - Dolphin Bycatch
Dolphin bycatch campaign by Sea Shepherd
On board the MY Sam Simon, the 25 members of the volunteer crew of the Sea Shepherd NGO ship sailing the Bay of Biscay. As part of the "Dolphin bycatch" campaign, the association seeks to raise public awareness of the death traps that fishermen's nets constitute for dolphins. About 600 dolphins have been found stranded on French beaches since the beginning of 2019. By approaching, at night, discreetly, with fast inflatable boats the trawlers in action of fishing, the members of the association realize images of dolphins caught in the nets to spread them on their social networks. They also try to recover the corpses in order to have them autopsied by the PELAGIS observatory.
