PAYS BASQUE – THE LAND BEYOND THE SEA
Du rivage de Saint-Jean-de-Luz aux montagnes de l’intérieur, le Pays basque apparaît par fragments. Une plage à marée basse, un sentier dans la brume, un village fortifié, un fronton vide, quelques signes d’une histoire encore présente. Entre l’océan et la montagne, le paysage garde ses silences. L’été passe, les nuages descendent sur la Rhune, la mer se retire. Le pays demeure.

From the shores of Saint-Jean-de-Luz to the inland mountains, the Basque Country appears in fragments. A beach at low tide, a path in the mist, a fortified village, an empty pelota court a few signs of a history still present. Between the ocean and the mountains, the landscape holds its silences. Summer passes, clouds descend on La Rhune, the sea recedes. The land remains.
