Frère ROGER de TAIZE
Frère ROGER est né en 1915 en Suisse dans une famille protestante. C'est au contact de sa grand mère qu'il rencontre l'église catholique. C'est en 1940 qu'il s'installe a Taize pour y fonder une communauté. En 1944 aidé de plusieurs frères il accueille des personnes persécutées. En 1978 il crée les Rencontre Européennes. Alors qu'il participait le 16 aout 2005 à la prière commune avec plusieurs milliers de jeunes pèlerins présents à Taizé durant les JMJ frère Roger, agé de quatre-vingt-dix ans est poignardé mortellement par Luminita Solcan une déséquilibrée âgée de trente-six ans qui avait réussi à s'introduire au milieu du chœur des frères.
Brother ROGER de TAIZE
Brother ROGER was born into a Protestant family in Switzerland in 1915. His grandmother introduced him to the Catholic Church. In 1940, he moved to Taize to found a community. In 1944, with the help of several brothers, he took in persecuted people. In 1978, he founded the Rencontre Européennes. On August 16, 2005, while taking part in the common prayer with several thousand young pilgrims present at Taizé during the World Youth Day, Brother Roger, aged ninety, was fatally stabbed by Luminita Solcan, a thirty-six-year-old unbalanced woman who had managed to get into the middle of the brothers' choir.
