Une plaque célèbre les 60 ans du carnaval de Notting Hill
À l’occasion du 60ᵉ anniversaire du carnaval de Notting Hill, une plaque commémorative est dévoilée au centre communautaire The Venture Centre, dans l’ouest de Londres. Créée à l’initiative de Jak Beula, fondateur du Nubian Jak Community Trust, elle porte les noms de 70 personnes ayant contribué à la création et au développement du carnaval, parmi lesquelles des créateurs de costumes et de mas, des musiciens de steel pan, des opérateurs de sound systems, ainsi que Claudia Jones, militante et journaliste considérée comme l’une des fondatrices du carnaval caribéen à Londres.
A blue plaque celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Notting Hill Carnival
To mark the 60th anniversary of the Notting Hill Carnival, a commemorative plaque is unveiled at the Venture Centre, a community centre in West London. Created at the initiative of Jak Beula, founder of the Nubian Jak Community Trust, it bears the names of 70 people who contributed to the creation and development of the Carnival, including costume and mas designers, steel pan musicians, sound system operators, and Claudia Jones, an activist and journalist regarded as one of the founders of London’s Caribbean carnival.
