Thimoté, le Havrais qui trace sa route
À 25 ans, Thimoté, skipper havrais, s’apprête à disputer sa troisième Transat Jacques Vabre. Étudiant en master de finance à Grenoble, il mène de front études et course au large, porté par une passion née sur les pontons du Havre.
« Je suis monté sur un bateau juste après ma naissance », sourit-il. De l’Optimist au centre d’entraînement régional, il grimpe les échelons avant de se tourner vers la course au large. « C’est le projet le plus complet, celui où il faut tout gérer, du bateau aux partenaires. »
À la tête de la Team ZEISS, il a su structurer son aventure : « Le feeling avec Nicolas Serriès, ex-PDG de Zeiss, a été immédiat. » Entouré d’une équipe de onze personnes et de son co-skipper Pierrick, il se sent prêt : « On a beaucoup progressé. L’objectif, c’est un top 10. »
Fidèle à sa ville, il revendique son ancrage local : « Le Havre est en mouvement, comme mon projet. » Soutenu par la municipalité, il multiplie les rencontres dans les écoles et les clubs pour inspirer les jeunes.
Son horizon ? Le Vendée Globe. « Le Graal, un rêve que je prépare patiemment. » En attendant, place à la Transat 2025. Vendredi 24 octobre, son bateau sera baptisé par Édouard Philippe, parrain fidèle depuis 2021.
Et s’il y a un podium ? Thimoté rigole : « Comme en 2021, on ira boire une bière. Une blonde, forcément. »

Thimoté, the Le Havre native who charts his course
At 25, Thimoté, a skipper from Le Havre, is preparing to compete in his third Transat Jacques Vabre. A master's student in finance in Grenoble, he combines studies and ocean racing, driven by a passion born on the pontoons of Le Havre.
"I joined a boat right after I was born," he smiles. From the Optimist to the regional training center, he climbed the ranks before turning to ocean racing. "It's the most comprehensive project, the one where you have to manage everything, from the boat to the partners."
At the head of Team ZEISS, he has managed to structure his adventure: "The connection with Nicolas Serriès, former CEO of Zeiss, was immediate." Surrounded by a team of eleven people and his co-skipper Pierrick, he feels ready: "We've made a lot of progress." The goal is a top 10 finish."
Loyal to his city, he asserts his local roots: "Le Havre is on the move, like my project." Supported by the municipality, he regularly holds meetings in schools and clubs to inspire young people.
His horizon? The Vendée Globe. "The Holy Grail, a dream I'm patiently preparing for." In the meantime, it's time for the 2025 Transat. On Friday, October 24, his boat will be christened by Édouard Philippe, a loyal sponsor since 2021.
And if there's a podium finish? Timothée laughs: "Like in 2021, we'll go for a beer. A lager, of course."
