FÊTE DU POIS CHICHE
Depuis 2008, le village de Montaren-et-Saint-Médiers célèbre chaque mois de mai le pois chiche lors d’une fête unique de trois jours. Entre totem imaginé, rituels inspirés des traditions païennes et chrétiennes, humour festif et esprit communautaire, l’événement rassemble chaque année un large public. Connue sous son nom occitan Lo Cese de Montaren, la fête a été inscrite à l’Inventaire national du patrimoine culturel immatériel en 2022.
CHICKPEA FESTIVAL
Since 2008, the village of Montaren-et-Saint-Médiers in southern France has celebrated the chickpea every May with a unique three-day festival. Featuring an invented totem, playful rituals inspired by both pagan and Christian traditions, and a strong sense of community, the event attracts large crowds each year. Known in Occitan as Lo Cese de Montaren, it was added to France’s National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2022.
