CAMPAGNE LÉGISLATIVE 2024 A SUSPENS DANS LES HAUTES-PYRÉNÉES
A l'annonce de la dissolution de l'Assemblée Nationale, dans le département des Hautes-Pyrénées, les députés sortant Benoit Mournet (Renaissance, coalition Ensemble pour la République) et Sylvie Ferrer (La France Insoumise - Nouveau Front populaire) remettaient leur mandat électoral en jeu face aux outsiders du Rassemblement National) dont Olivier Monteil et Marie Christine Sorin. Alors que le parti présidé par Jordan Bardella avait remporté dans le département 31,99% des suffrages lors des élections européennes du 9 juin, la campagne s'est annoncée à haut risque pour les deux députés sortant. Durant ces 3 semaines de campagne, les principaux candidats ont occupé le terrain, entre distribution de tracts sur les marchés, collage d'affiches, participation à des débats contradictoires, réunions avec leur état-major, porte à porte ou manifestations dans la rue. Si le Rassemblement National était placé en tête à l'issue du premier tour, ses candidats dans les deux circonscriptions perdaient avec un écart de 2 à 3 points au deuxième, au profit des deux candidats du Nouveau Front populaire, Denis Fegne (parti socialiste) élu dans la seconde circonscription et Sylvie Ferrer (La France Insoumise), (ré)élue dans la première. Le député sortant Benoit Mournet (camp présidentiel Renaissance), qui aurait pu se maintenir dans une triangulaire, s'était désisté au second tour au profit du Nouveau Front Populaire, ce qui certainement a influencé le changement de tendance. A l'annonce des résultats, les nouveaux élus de la coalition de gauche et d extreme gauche faisaient preuve d'humilité, actant de la colère d'une partie de la population, tandis que les candidats perdants du Rassemblement National s'enorgueillaient du nombre de voix en leur faveur, soulignant qu'ils s'étaient présenté au sein d'un parti et non au sein d'une coalition.
2024 LEGISLATIVE CAMPAIGN ON HOLD IN HAUTES-PYRÉNÉES DEPARTMENT
Since the announcement of the dissolution of the National Assembly, in the Hautes-Pyrénées department, outgoing MPs Benoit Mournet (Renaissance, Ensemble pour la République coalition) and Sylvie Ferrer (La France InsoumiseI - Nouveau Front populaire) have put their electoral mandate back on the line against the Rassemblement National Party outsiders, including Olivier Monteil and Marie Christine Sorin. While the Rassemblement National Party chaired by Jordan Bardella won 31.99% of the vote in the Hautes Pyrénées department for the European elections held in June, the campaign promised to be a high-risk one for the two incumbent MPs. During the 3 weeks of campaigning, main candidates took to the field, distributing leaflets in markets, sticking up posters, taking part in debates, holding meetings with their staff, going door-to-door or demonstrating in the street. Although the Rassemblement National Party came out on top in the first round on June 30, 2024, its candidates in both constituencies lost by a difference of 2 to 3 points in the second round, to the advantage of the two candidates of the Nouveau Front Populaire Coalition, Denis Fegne (Socialist Party) elected in the second constituency and Sylvie Ferrer (La France Insoumise) (re)elected in the first one. Incumbent MP Benoit Mournet (Renaissance presidential camp), who could have held his own in a triangular race, withdrew in the second round in favor of the Nouveau Front Populaire, which certainly influenced the change in trend. When the results were announced, the newly elected members of the Nouveau Front Populaire coalition were humble, acknowledging people's anger, while the losing candidates from the Rassemblement National Party were proud by the number of votes they had won, stressing that they had run as part of a party, not as part of a coalition.
