ISTANBUL NOSTALJI
ISTANBUL NOSTALJI
Istanbul, a mythical city.
As fantastical as Rome and Athens for our Judeo-Christian cradle but in a universe and registers that everything opposes, however, that the desire for exoticism brings us closer!
Istanbul, which owes its name to the repudiation first of Byzantium, so named at the time of its creation, and then of Constantinople in homage to the Roman Emperor Constantine who exercised his power there at the beginning of our Christian era. Istanbul was the keystone of the Ottoman Empire, the Golden Gate, which exercised its power from the Arabian Peninsula to the gates of Europe.
Istanbul, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985, Istanbul is more tragically known in the media as an open door to radical Islam, since most "jihadist" candidates to the barbarism of the Islamic state... as well as for the revolts of his youth from 2013 against the project of establishing an ultra-modern and ultra-capitalist shopping centre in the very challenging place of the secular, universalist and feminist Left, in the place of Gezi Park near Taksim Square....
Istanbul The Contestant who obsesses the very controversial head of the current government Recep Tayip Erdogan... is a bustling, vibrant, festive, iconoclastic megalopolis despite its religious buildings that confesses the vitality of the city's multiple obedience...
Taken from an analog camera in 2017, these images bear witness to the atmosphere and soul of a city whose perception is not only diffuse through its thousand-year-old architecture but also and above all through its geographical, historical and cultural position, which is always in motion... at the crossroads of two worlds that confront and mix.
