Bobby Rush - Chicago blues
Né en 1933 en Louisiane, Bobby Rush est un monument vivant des premières années du blues électrique. Son père pasteur l'initie très tôt à la musique. La famille migre à Chicago, où Bobby se lie d'amitié et tourne avec les grands noms du blues comme Elmore James, Ike Turner, Little Walter, Muddy Water, Howlin' Wolf et Jimmy Reed. Dès son adolescence, il porte une moustache (d'abord fausse, puis vraie) pour jouer dans les bars. A presque 90 ans, Bobby Rush a livré un long concert de première classe au Blues Rules Crissier Festival 2023, à l'issue duquel il a reçu le prix du public. Bobby Rush a remporté trois Grammys, le dernier en 2024 pour meilleur album de blues traditionnel.

Born in Louisiana in 1933, Bobby Rush is a living monument to the early years of electric blues. His preacher father introduced him to music at an early age. The family ended up in Chicago, where Bobby made friends and toured with blues greats like Elmore James, Ike Turner, Little Walter, Muddy Water, Howlin' Wolf and Jimmy Reed. From the time he was a teenager, he wore a mustache (first fake, then real) to play in the local juke joints.
At almost 90, Bobby Rush gave a long first-class concert at the Blues Rules Crissier Festival 2023, winning the audience award. Bobby Rush won three Grammy, the last one in 2024 for Best Traditional Blues Album.
