L’œil humain ne peut pas être partout avec plus de 30 000 caméras à Paris et en petite couronne ; l’IA pourrait donc venir pallier ce déficit, avec la loi Ripost autorisent l'extension de l’expérimentation de la vidéo-assistance qui exsiste deja pour les lieu publique, elle sera élargie aux bâtiments et lieux ouverts au public en cas de menace terroriste ou d’atteinte grave à la sécurité des personnes. La vidéo-assistance est presenté commre un simple outil d’aide à la décision des opérateurs vidéo : elle émet une alerte qui reste toujours analysée par un policier a préciser le préfet de Police; et la lecture automatisée de plaque d’immatriculation (LAPI) sera désormais autorisée pour combattre davantage d’infractions, comme les cambriolages, les escroqueries ou les soustractions de mineurs.

The human eye cannot be everywhere, with more than 30,000 cameras in Paris and its inner suburbs; AI could therefore help address this shortfall. With the Ripost Law authorizing the expansion of the video-assistance pilot program—which already exists for public spaces—it will be extended to buildings and locations open to the public in the event of a terrorist threat or a serious threat to public safety. Video assistance is presented as a simple decision-making aid for video operators: it issues an alert that is always analyzed by a police officer, as the Prefect of Police clarified; and automated license plate recognition (ALPR) will now be authorized to combat a wider range of offenses, such as burglaries, fraud, and the abduction of minors.
