MÉMORIAL DES MOINES DE TIBHIRINE
Dans l'enceinte de l'abbaye d'Aiguebelle, une chapelle mémorial, rend hommage aux sept moines trappistes du monastère de Tibhirine en Algérie assassinés le 21 mai 1996 et faisant partie des 19 martyrs d'Algérie, religieux et religieuses catholiques assassinés par le Groupe Islamique Armé (GIA). C'est l'Abbaye d'Aiguebelle qui a fondé le monastère de Tibhirine et parmi les 7 moines assassinés, trois d'entre eux étaient originaire de la Drôme.
MEMORIAL TO THE MONKS OF TIBHIRINE
Within the grounds of Aiguebelle Abbey, a memorial chapel pays tribute to the seven Trappist monks of the Tibhirine monastery in Algeria who were murdered on May 21, 1996. They were among the 19 martyrs of Algeria, Catholic monks and nuns killed by the Armed Islamic Group (GIA). Aiguebelle Abbey founded the Tibhirine monastery, and three of the seven murdered monks were from the Drôme region of France.
