La Sagrada Familia en chantier
La Sagrada Familia, basilique imaginée par Antoni Gaudi, demeure l’un des plus grands chantiers architecturaux d’Europe plus de 140 ans après la pose de sa première pierre. Malgré la récente pose de la croix au sommet de la tour centrale de Jesus, les travaux restent omniprésents autour du monument.
Autour des façades de la Passion et de la Gloria, des grues dominent toujours le ciel de Barcelone tandis que des zones entières restent fermées derrière des barrières, des échafaudages et des structures temporaires. Touristes, habitants, cyclistes, commerçants et visiteurs circulent quotidiennement entre les clôtures, les gravats, les installations de chantier et les accès filtrés avant d’entrer dans la basilique.
La série documente également les transformations urbaines autour de la Carrer de Mallorca, directement concernée par le projet d’achèvement de la façade de la Gloria. Plusieurs immeubles, logements et commerces situés face à la future entrée monumentale pourraient être concernés par des expropriations et destructions afin de permettre l’extension finale imaginée par Antoni Gaudi.
Entre patrimoine religieux, tourisme de masse et mutation urbaine, la Sagrada Familia apparaît ici comme une basilique toujours en chantier dont les travaux continuent de transformer le cœur de Barcelone.
The Sagrada Familia under construction
The Sagrada Familia, designed by Antoni Gaudi, remains one of the largest architectural construction sites in Europe more than 140 years after the laying of its first stone. Despite the recent installation of the cross on top of the central Tower of Jesus, construction work remains omnipresent around the monument.
Around the Passion and Gloria facades, cranes still dominate the skyline of Barcelona while entire sections remain closed behind barriers, scaffolding and temporary structures. Tourists, residents, cyclists, shop owners and visitors move daily between fences, rubble, construction installations and controlled access points before entering the basilica.
The series also documents the urban transformations surrounding Carrer de Mallorca, directly impacted by the completion project of the Gloria facade. Several residential buildings, homes and businesses facing the future monumental entrance could be affected by expropriations and demolitions intended to allow the final extension imagined by Antoni Gaudi.
Between religious heritage, mass tourism and urban transformation, the Sagrada Familia appears here as a basilica still under construction whose ongoing works continue to reshape the heart of Barcelona.
