Kyudo : La Voie de l'Arc
Ce projet explore le monde du Kyūdō, un art martial traditionnel japonais où toucher la cible n’est pas nécessairement l’objectif absolu. On dit que « si tous les mouvements précédant le tir sont justes, alors la flèche atteindra sa cible ». Le Kyūdō dépasse ainsi la seule pratique sportive, c'est un art martial.
Ses origines remontent à la guerre, mais lorsque les soldats n’eurent plus à combattre, ils réorientèrent leur pratique vers une discipline plus compétitive et plus contemplative, afin de continuer à pratiquer le tir à l’arc.
En France, le Kyūdō compte entre 700 et 750 licenciés, répartis dans environ 60 clubs, et constitue une pratique bien plus répandue qu’on pourrait l’imaginer.

This project explores the world of Kyūdō, a traditional Japanese martial art where hitting the target is not necessarily the ultimate objective. It is said that “if all the movements preceding the shot are correct, then the arrow will reach its target.” Kyūdō thus goes beyond mere sport : it is a martial art.
Its origins go back to war times, but when soldiers no longer had to fight, they redirected their practice toward a more competitive and more contemplative discipline, in order to continue practicing archery.
In France, Kyūdō has between 700 and 750 licensed practitioners, spread across around 60 clubs, and constitutes a practice far more widespread than one might imagine.
