Nativity scenes from around the world
The theological doctrine of the birth of Jesus Christ states that Jesus has no human father. The Nativity is the birth of Jesus of Nazareth in Bethlehem, Judea. The date of this birth was chosen as the beginning of the Christian era in the Gregorian calendar. The Nativity is celebrated on December 25 by Catholics and corresponds to the Christian holiday of Christmas. In religious art, a "Nativity" is a representation of the birth of Jesus in the form of paintings, sculptures, stained glass and sacred music. The Christmas crib is a staging associated with the Christian religion in different arts in three dimensions (mainly sculpture and theater) of the Nativity, that is to say the birth of Jesus Christ, in the form of unchanging characters, with primarily the Holy Family and especially the Child Jesus in the crib (which means a manger) of a stable or a cave. This original iconography is progressively enriched with different scenic formulas, characters (shepherds, angels, Magi) and animals (ox, donkey, sheep, camels) surrounding the naked Child Jesus in his trough, his cradle or on the straw. The Christmas crib can be static, mechanical or living. Occasional and temporary construction or representation, traditionally associated with Christmas celebrations, it is more rarely a permanent and irremovable reproduction.
