The missing children of Armero
On the night of 13–14 November 1985, the eruption of the Navado del Ruiz volcano devastated the town of Armero, Colombia, killing 25,000 people. In the chaos that followed, hundreds of surviving children were put up for adoption, often in haste. For 40 years, parents have been searching for their children, convinced that they were given up for adoption illegally.
