On October 17 of 2020, several hundred Armenians demonstrated in the streets of Bordeaux. For several weeks, a bloody conflict has raged in the Nagorno-Karabakh region between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The demonstrators demanded recognition of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh - populated by Armenians but landlocked in the Azerbaijani territory - as well as a rapid reaction from the European Union. Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been widely scolded by the demonstrators: in addition to the heavy liabilities which still oppose Armenia to Turkey, The Turkish President is an unconditional ally of his Azeri counterpart.
