Restoration of the Archangel
L'Archange du Mont-Saint-Michel gets a new look at the Socra company in the Dordogne. The Socra company stripped and then applied 5 coats of protective paint. It is now the turn of Maison Gohard to gild the building. The Gohard family business has notably rebuilt the torch of the Statue of Liberty in New York. Francis and Lucie Gohard (father and daughter) work together to gild the Archangel. The chief architect of the french buildings, Mr Jeanneau is here to see the progress of the work, the director of the Socra is also here, Mr Palem. The gilders have put 32 grams of gold leaf instead of the usual 23 to cope with the difficult conditions of Mont-Saint-Michel (sand, salt...). The gold will notably wean lightning conductors but will also scare birds.
