Lacunes 1997
La série
Lacunes a été réalisée à partir d'un vieux stock de papier quadrillé, préalablement découpé en bandes, et retravaillé : déchirures, lacérations, coupures, ajouts au crayon et détrempe.
Ces bandes ont été placées dans l'agrandisseur à la manière d'un négatif afin d'en tirer un photogramme par projection. Ici, la traversée de la matière du papier par la lumière est à la fois insistance sur la fonction indicielle de la photographie et métamorphose, révélation de l'objet par la simple mise en jeu du dispositif optique vers un excès de présence.
Aux manques, lacunes du papier, répondent les trouées noires, gorgées de lumière, du report photographique qui informent les gris de la surface entière de l'image et nous rappellent que l'essence de toute empreinte photographique est l'inscription de la lumière par l'ombre.
Lacunes 1997
The Lacunes series was made from an old stock of squared paper, previously cut into strips, and reworked: tears, lacerations, cuts, pencil additions and distemper.
These strips were placed in the enlarger in the manner of a negative in order to produce a photogram by projection. Here, the crossing of the material of the paper by the light is at the same time insistence on the indexical function of the photograph and metamorphosis, revelation of the object by the simple setting in play of the optical device towards an excess of presence.
To the lacks, the gaps of the paper, answer the black holes, full of light, of the photographic report which inform the greys of the whole surface of the image and remind us that the essence of any photographic impression is the inscription of the light by the shade.
