Célébrations - Vaisakhi, fête du printemps Sikh à Bobigny
Le jour de l’an du calendrier Vikram Samvat, calendrier hindou, embrasse l’arrivée du printemps et des moissons. Dans le Pendjab, au Nord de l’Inde, cette fête s’appelle Vaisakhi.
Dans la tradition sikhe, elle commémore également la fondation du Khalsa, l’ordre chevaleresque des sikhs créé par le dixième et dernier Guru, Guru Goding Singh. Grande figure de la religion, il institutionnalisa notamment l’uniforme sikh par les Cinq K, les cinq attributs sacrés.
Fêté généralement le 13 ou le 14 avril du calendrier grégorien, le temple Gurdwara Singh Sabha de Bobigny, plus grand temple Sikh de France, organise cette année son Nagar Kirtan, une procession honorant le Guru Granth Sahib (le livre saint du sikhisme), le 19 avril. Avec la procession, des démonstrations de Gatka, art martial sikh du maniement des armes, et un grand repas gratuit sont aussi organisés.
Celebrations - Vaisakhi, the Sikh Spring Festival in Bobigny
New Year’s Day on the Vikram Samvat calendar, the Hindu calendar, marks the arrival of spring and the harvest season. In the Punjab region of northern India, this festival is called Vaisakhi.
In the Sikh tradition, it also commemorates the founding of the Khalsa, the chivalric order of Sikhs established by the tenth and final Guru, Guru Goding Singh. A prominent figure in the religion, he notably institutionalized the Sikh uniform through the Five Ks, the five sacred attributes.
Generally celebrated on April 13 or 14 of the Gregorian calendar, the Gurdwara Singh Sabha temple in Bobigny—the largest Sikh temple in France—is organizing its Nagar Kirtan this year, a procession honoring the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy book of Sikhism), on April 19. Along with the procession, demonstrations of Gatka, the Sikh martial art of weaponry, and a large free meal will also be held.
