Sur les traces de l'ours, avec Florent Antras
Autrefois, l’ours vivait partout en France, mais aujourd’hui, il n’est présent que dans les Pyrénées. En 2023, 83 ours ont été détectés dans le massif. Nous avons suivi leurs traces dans les montagnes d’Ariège. On t’emmène avec nous !
Rencontrer un ours dans les Pyrénées, c’est quasiment mission impossible ! Alors, pour en savoir plus sur cet animal très discret, j’ai suivi un expert, Florent Antras, un ancien berger aujourd’hui guide de montagne en Ariège et médiateur entre l’ours et les humains. Passionné par ce mammifère, il a étudié son comportement et collecté des milliers d’objets le concernant : livres, photos, pin’s… Et il connaît par cœur le terrain où vit cet animal sauvage. Car la majorité des ours des Pyrénées se trouvent en Ariège. “Cette année, j’ai vu l’ours 25 fois. Parfois, il était à 10 mètres de moi. On habite un même territoire, c’est comme un voisin”, sourit Florent en m’entraînant dans une forêt à la recherche de traces : poils, empreintes, crottes…

Encountering a bear in the Pyrenees is virtually mission impossible! So to find out more about this very discreet animal, I followed an expert, Florent Antras, a former shepherd who is now a mountain guide in Ariège and a mediator between the bear and humans. Passionate about this mammal, he has studied its behaviour and collected thousands of objects about it: books, photos, pins, etc. And he knows the terrain where this wild animal lives by heart. Most of the bears in the Pyrenees can be found in Ariège. "This year, I saw the bear 25 times. Sometimes he was 10 metres away. We live in the same territory, he's like a neighbour", Florent smiles as he leads me into a forest in search of tracks: hair, footprints, droppings...
