L'architecture menacée d'Avoriaz
En 2019, l'Union européenne a interdit l'utilisation de matériaux inflammables sur les façades de certains immeubles notamment ceux de plus de 28 mètres. Pour la station de ski au coeur des Alpes, Avoriaz 1800 (Haute-Savoie), avant-gardiste en matière d'architecture, c'est le risque de perdre son identité. Depuis, les institutions se battent pour préserver la singularité locale.
C'est à la suite de l'incendie de la tour Greenfell de Londres en juin 2017 que l'Union européenne a instauré cette réglementation. L'incendie avait provoqué la mort de 72 personnes.
The Threatened Architecture of Avoriaz
In 2019, the European Union banned the use of flammable materials on the facades of certain buildings, particularly those over 28 meters high. For the ski resort at the heart of the Alps, Avoriaz 1800 (Haute-Savoie), a pioneer in architectural design, this posed the risk of losing its unique identity. Since then, institutions have been fighting to preserve the local distinctiveness.
This regulation was introduced by the European Union following the Grenfell Tower fire in London in June 2017, which resulted in the deaths of 72 people.
