MORT POUR LA FRANCE - JUGELÉ
Mardi 25 avril 2017 - Préfecture de Paris. Hommage national rendu au policier Xavier Jugelé, tué dans l'exercice de ses fonctions lors d'une attaque terroriste sur les Champs Élysées le 20 avril. Celui-ci a été abattu de deux balles dans la tête par des tirs de Kalachnikov. Cet attentat a été mené par Karim Cheurfi et revendiqué par Daesh. Xavier Jugelé allait avoir 38 ans début mai. Dans l'éloge faite à Jugelé avec lequel il était pacsé, son compagnon Etienne Cardiles a témoigné de sa «douleur extrême» et dit souffrir «sans haine». Xavier Jugelé a été élevé à titre posthume au rang de capitaine et a reçu la légion d'honneur par le Président Hollande. Dans une grande émotion, sa dépouille a été transportée hors de l'enceinte de la préfecture de police. Il sera enterré à Romorantin-Lanthenay, dans le Loir-et-Cher. À l'invitation de François Holland, Emmanuel Macron et Marine Le Pen, tous deux finalistes dans la course à Présidence de la République étaient également présents.

Tuesday April 25, 2017 - Prefecture of Police, Paris. National tribute presided over by François Hollande commemorating the policeman Xavier Jugelé, killed while carrying out his duties in a terrorist attack on the Champs Élysées on 20 April. He was shot twice fatally in the head with a Kalashnikov assault rifle. The attack, carried out by Karim Cheurfi, was claimed by IS (Islamic State). Xavier Jugelé would have turned 38 at the beginning of May. His companion and civil partner Etienne Cardiles, testified to his "extreme pain" and said he suffered "without hatred", in an emotive eulogy. Xavier Jugelé was posthumously awarded the rank of captain and received the Legion of Honour at the ceremony. Before a tearful crowd, his remains were carried out of the courtyard of the Préfecture de Police. He will be buried at Romorantin-Lanthenay, in the Loir-et-Cher. At the invitation of the President Francois Hollande both surviving presidential candidates in the 2017 race for the Élysée Palace, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen.
