Jean-Eudes Gannat, a far-right politician who has been convicted on several occasions for racist acts and remarks and is known as a staunch supporter of the ‘Identitarian’ movement, attempted to disrupt the rally organised by Christophe Béchu, the mayor of Angers, following the violence that swept across the country during the demonstration on 17 October.
