Etre vétérinaire rural durant une épidémie de Dermatose Nodulaire Contagieuse
Cerdagne, 25 novembre 2025, Julien Guillot est vétérinaire rural. Depuis plus d’un mois, son agenda s’est vu bousculé par l’épidémie de dermatose nodulaire contagieuse du bovin (DNC) et la nécessité de vaccination des vaches et veaux encore en estive en ce milieu d’automne.
Alors que la neige s’invite sur les hauts plateaux cerdans, Julien est aidé par Théo Rousseaux, un jeune vétérinaire en dernière année d’étude à Toulouse. À eux deux, en plus des actes habituels et récurrents d’un territoire de montagne, ils doivent vacciner plusieurs centaines de bovin et contrôler leur non-contagiosité afin de leur permettre de rejoindre leur étable et éviter des vêlages souvent mortel dans le froid et la neige.

Being a rural veterinarian during the Contagious Nodular Dermatitis epidemic
Cerdagne, November 25, 2025. Julien Guillot is a rural veterinarian. For over a month, his schedule has been disrupted by an outbreak of contagious bovine nodular dermatitis (CBD) and the need to vaccinate cows and calves still grazing in the mountains in the middle of autumn.
As snow begins to fall on the high plateaus of Cerdagne, Julien is assisted by Théo Rousseaux, a young veterinarian in his final year of study in Toulouse. In addition to their usual and recurring duties in a mountainous area, the two of them must vaccinate several hundred cattle and check that they are not contagious so that they can return to their barns and avoid calving, which is often fatal in the cold and snow.
