Femen perturbe la Fête nationale de Jeanne d'Arc à Carcassonne
La ville de Carcassonne et son nouveau maire Rassemblement National Christophe Barthès, ont organisé une commémoration de la Fête nationale de Jeanne d’Arc et du patriotisme, avec la remise en place de la statue Jeanne d’Arc sur le parvis de la cathédrale Saint-Michel. L’événement a été interrompu par l’arrivée de quatre femmes du groupe féministe Femen incarnées en Jeanne d'Arc, refusant l’appropriation de cette figure historique par l'extrême droite. Aux cris de "féministes pas fasciste !", leur torse et leur dos affichaient « FEMEN pas RN ». Tandis que les Femens ont été embarquées par les policiers en nombre, le maire de la cité médiévale est resté impassible.
Femen disrupts the Joan of Arc National Day celebration in Carcassonne
The city of Carcassonne and its new mayor, Christophe Barthès of the National Rally, organized a commemoration of the National Day of Joan of Arc and Patriotism, which included the reinstallation of the Joan of Arc statue on the plaza in front of Saint-Michel Cathedral. The event was interrupted by the arrival of four women from the feminist group Femen dressed as Joan of Arc, protesting the far-right’s appropriation of this historical figure. Shouting “feminists, not fascists!”, their chests and backs bore the slogan “FEMEN, not RN...”. While the Femen activists were taken away by a large number of police officers, the mayor of the medieval town remained impassive.
