Migrants in Briançon: MSF installs a humanitarian tent
Briançon, November 13, 2021. Considering the emergency situation of exiles in the streets, as the association Refuges Solidaires has been closed since October 24 because of overpopulation, and as the public authorities refuse to ensure their obligation to shelter, Médecins Sans Frontières offers a tent of 100 square meters at their request to the local associations. With a capacity of about 50 people, it is installed on the Sainte-Catherine parish field, under the coordination of Gilles Pelissier of MSF, assisted by another MSF employee and a dozen local volunteers. This type of tent, usually deployed in the event of a natural disaster, arrived from the Bordeaux logistics center. In the evening, the first migrants find room for a warm night inside. On the same day, the collectives and solidarity associations organize a big demonstration to denounce the situation, which brings together about 300 people.
