New Yorkers gathered in Washington Square Park for a memorial service organized by online creators Wafflekozik, Official KiingSpiider, and Dupre God to pay their respects and tribute to the MetroCard in New York City, NY, United States on December 30, 2025. The MetroCard, which had been the primary means of paying for public transportation in New York City, was announced to no longer be sold at the end of the 2025 and be replaced by the new OMNY card system.
