BENIN-LABELLISATION-RITES-VODUN
À l’hôtel Ganaa de Grand-Popo, le Bénin accueille l’Atelier national d’étude et de validation des rites, pratiques et architectures à labelliser pour le Vodun, une initiative majeure portée par le Comité des Rites Vodun, créé par décret présidentiel en septembre 2023. Cette rencontre, qui réunit du 9 au 12 octobre une soixantaine de dignitaires issus des huit départements du Sud et du Centre du pays, marque une étape clé dans la politique culturelle du gouvernement. L’objectif est d’examiner et de valider les rites, les pratiques et les architectures des couvents Vodun éligibles à une labellisation officielle, ainsi que de définir les processus et les stratégies de cette labellisation. Il s’agit d’une démarche ambitieuse visant à préserver l’authenticité du culte Vodun, à corriger les stéréotypes qui l’entourent, et à promouvoir un tourisme spirituel durable et structuré. Inscrit dans la dynamique du Programme d’Action du Gouvernement, cet atelier s’articule avec des projets culturels d’envergure tels que les “Vodun Days” à Ouidah, la “Route des couvents Vodun”, et le Musée international du Vodun à Porto-Novo. En réunissant les gardiens des traditions et les autorités culturelles, le Bénin affirme sa volonté de devenir une référence mondiale du tourisme religieux et patrimonial, tout en réhabilitant la dignité et la portée universelle du Vodun dans le dialogue des cultures.
BENIN-LABELIZATION-VODUN-RITES
At the Ganaa Hotel in Grand-Popo, Benin is hosting the National Workshop for the Study and Validation of Vodun Rites, Practices, and Architectures to be Certified, a major initiative led by the Vodun Rites Committee, created by presidential decree in September 2023. This meeting, which brings together some sixty dignitaries from the eight departments of the South and Center of the country from October 9 to 12, marks a key step in the government's cultural policy. The objective is to examine and validate the rites, practices, and architecture of Vodun convents eligible for official certification, as well as to define the processes and strategies for this certification. This is an ambitious initiative aimed at preserving the authenticity of the Vodun cult, correcting the stereotypes surrounding it, and promoting sustainable and structured spiritual tourism. Part of the Government's Action Program, this workshop is coordinated with major cultural projects such as the "Vodun Days" in Ouidah, the "Route of Vodun Convents", and the International Vodun Museum in Porto-Novo. By bringing together the guardians of traditions and cultural authorities, Benin affirms its desire to become a world reference for religious and heritage tourism, while rehabilitating the dignity and universal scope of Vodun in the dialogue of cultures.
