La ville de Cotonou est en pleine mutation avec de grands projets routiers inscrits dans la phase 2 du Programme d’Action du Gouvernement (PAG), dont l’autoroute de contournement nord (40 km) pour réduire la congestion urbaine, le nouveau pont sur la lagune et son autoroute de 10 km pour fluidifier la circulation, ainsi que la réhabilitation d’axes stratégiques comme Cotonou-Porto Novo et des travaux d’assainissement et de pavage dans les communes voisines (Abomey-Calavi, Sèmè-Podji). Soutenues par des partenaires tels que le Fonds africain de développement (FAD) et la société SIRAT, ces infrastructures visent à désengorger la ville, stimuler l’économie, renforcer l’intégration régionale et améliorer durablement le cadre de vie.

The city of Cotonou is undergoing major transformation with major road projects included in Phase 2 of the Government Action Program (PAG), including the northern bypass (40 km) to reduce urban congestion, the new lagoon bridge and its 10 km highway to improve traffic flow, as well as the rehabilitation of strategic roads such as Cotonou-Porto Novo and sanitation and paving works in neighboring municipalities (Abomey-Calavi, Sèmè-Podji). Supported by partners such as the African Development Fund (ADF) and the SIRAT company, these infrastructures aim to relieve congestion in the city, stimulate the economy, strengthen regional integration and sustainably improve the living environment.
