Pashupatinath est le plus important site hindou du Népal. Il est dédié à Shiva, le dieu féroce y apparaît sous son aspect bienveillant de Pashupati. Pashupatinath est un lieu saint où de nombreux hindouistes souhaitent se faire incinérer. Sur ce site sont installés des Sâdhus qui vivent presque à demeure dans l'enceinte du temple. Les Sâdhus sont des ascètes hindous qui suivent une voie de pénitence et de mortification pour atteindre l'illumination et modifier leur karma.

Pashupatinath is the most important Hindu site in Nepal. It is dedicated to Shiva, the fierce god who appears in it under his benevolent aspect of Pashupati. Pashupatinath is a holy place where many Hindus wish to be cremated. On this site are installed Sâdhus who live almost permanently in the temple enclosure. The Sâdhus are Hindu ascetics who follow a path of penance and mortification to attain enlightenment and modify their karma.
