Almanach 1915

Almanach 1915
Almanach 1915, is a work of memory that has its origins in the funny stories my mother used to tell me when I was a child:
The Turks locked the women and children in the church. My grandmother carried my mother in her arms. French soldiers broke down the doors of the building to pull the Armenians out of the flames.
The Turks ripped off the women's earrings, tearing the lobes.
On the boat taking the Armenians to Greece, my grandmother Haïganouche pre-chewed everything she could find to feed my mother.
Mardiros, Hérip and Vréj's brother, lost his head watching his friends being beheaded one after the other.
The almanac is a tool of power. It gives value to humans and the insignificance of the time they spend on earth. It allows them to situate themselves in relation to historical events, to inscribe themselves in a lineage, to look backwards and forwards at will. It's a bridge.
