Le 22 septembre 2025, la France a officiellement reconnu l'État de Palestine lors de la 80e session de l'Assemblée générale des Nations unies, marquant ainsi une étape importante vers la promotion de la paix au Moyen-Orient. Ce geste symbolique affirme la légitimité du peuple palestinien tout en réaffirmant le respect des droits du peuple israélien. En soutien à cette décision, plusieurs communes du Pays basque, dont Urrugne, ont hissé le drapeau palestinien sur leurs bâtiments municipaux afin d'exprimer leur solidarité.

On 22 September 2025, France officially recognised the State of Palestine at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, marking an important step towards promoting peace in the Middle East. This symbolic gesture affirms the legitimacy of the Palestinian people while reaffirming respect for the rights of the Israeli people. In support of this decision, several municipalities in the Basque Country, including Urrugne, flew the Palestinian flag on their municipal buildings to express their solidarity.
